Lautares is one of the oldest family owned businesses in Greenville. In 1912 John and George Lautares opened an ice cream and candy store, as many businesses began in the early 1900’s. They later added jewelry and watch repair. In 1933 they became known as Lautares Brothers Jewelers. In 1953 John’s son, George, became the sole owner. George hired Billy Pate in 1972 as a high school student, who then went on to apprentice with George for many years. In 1982 the store moved from the downtown Evans Street location to Arlington Village.
For almost 50 years Billy Pate, along with Patty Adams have been the heart and soul of Lautares Jewelers. It is rare to find a business where the people who greet you have spent their entire careers building a friendly and respectable business based on integrity and knowledge of the jewelry industry. The level of service, trust and expertise is remarkable. The staff of Lautares are what puts Lautares above the rest. They have the knowledge, experience and desire to serve with an attitude of professionalism that is rare in today’s retail market.
Lautares offers graduate gemologists, master bench jewelers, designers and watch repair.
They also have Gemological Institute of America accreditation, as well as the American Gem Society accreditation.
